Is this the reason why there was an increase in obesity due to the fact that adults in society today are lazy? Are we all just a bunch of lethargic couch potatoes who do nothing but sit and eat all the time? I say no. Instead, we are the product of our revolutionary technology company . I'm not saying that we can not blame the technology, rather I am saying that, as in our youth , adults are also a reflection of the society that surrounds them. This is not an excuse, but it's a thought I pondered based on my typical day.
I get up in the morning , not the sound of an aggravating buzz , beep, or the blaring radio . These alarms would get my race right from the start blood, but I would hit Snooze to stop the madness. Then it happen again and again, repeating the bar . After a while of this, I am now would be late to work, rush to the shower if I even had time to rush the car and speed off to work . Not in the world today. Instead , I wake up to the soothing sound of the ocean on my Homedics radio and slowly wake peacefully. No blood pumping , no increased heart rate . I just have a nice, slow , easy awakening. Next I headed to the shower where I put turn on my CD player shower and listen to something that I like when I take my time letting the water almost cold in the back.
During my period toweling and get dressed in the morning , I can hear my coffee made on the coffee machine that is set to make a cup every morning with me not having to do a thing. While I sit and drink my coffee pondering the day ahead of me , I see that it is almost gone, so I gently pushed a button on my key ring that starts my car and it gets nice and warm for me before I am still in this . I can then take my walk to my car, get in, and have a good quiet work ( unless unexpected rage ) training. Nothing like before when I had to run to my car because I was late most of the time due to the discomfort of my alarm or run because it was cold, then enter and shake and shiver for 10 minutes until it warmed .
Once at work, I find myself taking out my PDA and see what is on my agenda for the day. No, no more flipping through the pages of my pocket calendar or planner. My working day is simple and uneventful , but instead of having to run back through the office to get messages to everyone , I can now simply send an email with the push of inter a button. When it 's time to go , I go back to my car my office and drive home .
Arriving at home, I put in a microwave dinner that should not be chopped , sliced , stirred , mixed, kneaded , poked , or even pushed . Press a few buttons and five minutes later I 'm sitting in front of the TV watching the shows I've recorded on a digital recorder to my cable and eating my five minute, nuked meal. Would I have done this in the past? The answer is no , because I would have had to physically do something to eat , and it would not be anything on TV worth watching , so I eat and I'll do something like yard work , clean the home, play with the kids , whatever, just something else to occupy the time . Oops , while I ate, I had some crumbs on the floor , then dropped a little more on the way back to the kitchen. Well , I'll just push the button on my robot vacuum cleaner and let it clean the whole floor as it is preprogrammed to do.
Finally, my day is coming to an end and instead of doing something really constructive before I go to bed, I can not resist the opportunity to surf the Internet for a while , maybe chat with friends or parents, and check my e -mails. Besides, I have to plug my PDA to the computer anyway. Now my lazy day or technologically dysfunctional ended .
This whole story brings me to my question that started it all. I'm lazy or am I just a product of my environment. This is the opinion of this author that I am both . A few years ago , even simple things like making dinner would be exercise , but now it is too easy as it is for you in a box. Today , everything is easy and most adults are on the heavier side , because things are easier and do not take much energy . This does not mean that we are lazy in society, that means we do not have to exert ourselves as much to accomplish the daily routines that are needed to complete the day. However, I could stop by the gym on my way home , or go for a walk after dinner , so I'm too lazy too. The Internet just pulls me in night after night and I can not make me do anything after dinner. Shame on you technology for holding this gun to my head!
