Seems to be a strange question to ask a personal trainer for clients , but I do. I have a theory that everyone is willing or able to accept that the only result of their fitness and nutrition is based on personal responsibility. There are some circumstances in which an individual has no control over their weight gain or weight loss, but for most of us our results can be expressed by our determination.
A few things prompted me to write this little article about personal responsibility. One is a TV show I saw last night. Other reasons include a few emails I received last week and the comments of a personal friend to me . Each of these situations taught me something rather interesting. Something I already knew , but it did not quite think so far.
There is a race to melt fat , tone up, lose weight, and feel good in your body before summer hits . Have you noticed an increase in the diet pill commercials lately? What infomercials gadget of the year or new diet books ? Means the dreaded warm weather many of us are on bare skin that we prefer to keep it secret.
In the frenzy to lose weight I get bombarded with emails from people looking for a magic solution. They are convinced that I know something they do not. Few emails last week blew me away . One accused personal trainers know the secret to losing weight, but he thinks they refused to tell anyone the answer to not lose customers. Another email has practically begged me to turn my guts on my training program because the person thought I was a super-duper program that only use personal trainers .
Admittedly I'm a little upset at first. I mean people really think personal trainers know that the secret to fat loss, but are not willing to share with others? Nonsense . We share with people all the time. It is a matter of eating well and being active and often outside . And just for the record my nutrition and exercise routine are exactly the same routines I speak on my website and in my ebook. I really am my own advice !
Two other things worthy of note happened to me in the past week as well . I watched a television program to change your family lifestyle . The goal is to become active and eat healthy so that children grow up healthy . I liked the idea behind the show and that's why I watched. Halfway through this particular episode I was in shock.
The children , aged 8 and 10 years, were eating better and become more active . They followed the rules of the nutritionist had set for them. They were healthier and happier. Guess who was not willing to change? Mom! She was sitting on her porch swing , smoking a cigarette and talking to the camera about how this show was supposed to be for and about children and not her. Therefore , it must be able to eat when and what she wants.
Finally I had a friend approach me and say how much I was lucky to be in shape . She kept talking about how she wishes she could go kayaking and hiking as much as I did . She talked about how I am so lucky to work in the fitness industry and what a coincidence it was that I enjoyed my work. She went as far as to say that she wishes she could have some of my luck .
Between these few emails, the TV and the comments of my friend, it became clear that many people do not have personal responsibility. Each scenario consisted of a single basic doctrine , you are responsible for you . Nobody can make you lose fat. Not even me ! I can not force you to stick to an exercise program . I can not ask for more or kayak love your work. I would, but I can not.
Only you can make changes in your life. You're the only person who can create a happy healthy loving and dynamic business life , . I can provide the tools and motivation, but you are the master of your destiny. You are the only force that determines the success , you will be in your life. Ask yourself these questions:
- Do you wake up in the morning because you're excited about your day?
- Are you really happy with your body?
- Are you happy with your personality ?
- Do you really believe that you are in control of your life?
- That your thoughts are not enough , do you recognize ? Action is the key .
I help many people find a way to joy in living a healthy and fit life . I just can not doubt proclaim that once you push aside the excuses, once you really enter to the plate, you'll hit a home run. There will be hard times, but with the right tools , motivation and goals you can and will overcome .
Personal responsibility is the key success factor in fat loss . There is no chance that I found time to hike and kayak. It is not by chance that I love my job . We all have 24 hours in a day . Decid of how we spend that time really determines the outcome of our lives. Watch 4 hours of television every night is not suitable for you if your goal is fat loss . It is a matter of personal responsibility and do what you know is right for you. So I ask you , are you responsible enough to lose fat ?
