One of the resolutions of the most common New Year 's " to lose weight and get in shape ." However, in a few weeks , an overwhelming majority of people are back where they started foods that are not healthy and not exercise room . So why do so many people start out with good intentions and fail ?
Most people focus on short-term goals and instant gratification . They want to lose weight, but are not committed to making lifestyle changes necessary to lead a healthy life. Let's be honest that chocolate covered donut with sprinkles certainly tastes better than a bowl of oatmeal , and do not want to eat something that tastes better . The truth is, unless you are training for a sporting event its ok to have a chocolate donut from time to time . The key is not to have a chocolate donut every morning. Realize that there are certain foods that are just not healthy and you should be eating on a limited basis and with moderation.
The second part of the fitness and weight loss is exercise. Again people start with the best of intentions I 'm going to run 5 miles every day. However, if you have not run a mile in more years than you care to admit , this is a recipe for failure. Set moderate goals and achieve for yourself . First begin to walk a mile. After a few weeks begin to walk for two miles , then three . Once you can comfortably walk 5 miles , start walking four and a half miles and run a half- mile. Continue to add to the length you run and subtracting the length as you walk. It may take six months or more to get to this stage , and that's ok . It is not important that you succeed quickly , it's just that you prosper.
One of the main reasons that people give resolutions of weight loss is temporary defeat . Maybe they went on vacation and gained a few pounds , or they had some big plans for work and have not exercised for a week or two , and what is the starting point to climb . When you start on the road to achieve a healthier life, there will be bumps and even a few dead ends along the way. Realize its ok to make a mistake as long as you return to the right path, and try not to repeat the same mistakes that you did last time .
